Developing the UK Food Environment Policy Index
February 2016
The Food Foundation is in the process of applying the Food Environment Policy Index (Food EPI) in the UK. The Food Environment Policy Index aims to track the progress that governments have made towards good practice in improving food environments and nutrition. It identifies critical gaps in policies and infrastructure, provides a means of benchmarking against international best practice, and tracks progress over time. The Food Foundation is developing the Index for use in the UK context and as a first step has mapped all relevant legislation. An initial consultation draft of this policy landscape review can be found was prepared for comments from academic, NGO and Government officials.
Update: June 2016
We have now validated the EPI Evidence Paper with Government officials and presented it to Academic Experts and Civil Society at an Expert Consultation based on the INFORMAS methodology
